Fed: Thousands warn of voter backlash if ABC not fixed

A rally of about 10,000 ABC supporters today crowded outside Parliament House in Canberra
to signal to the Federal Government it could lose crucial votes in an election year if
it doesn't treat them seriously.

The crowd, including actors and members of the Australian Democrats and Greens, marched
from Lake Burley Griffin to the Parliament building.

It called for an immediate boost to funding for the public broadcaster, funds to establish
digital technology, and the establishment of a joint parliamentary committee to oversee
ABC board appointments.
