Vic: Juice and tea for thirsy Anzac marchers
Thirsty Anzac Day marchers have been given fruit juice and tea after marching more
than three kilometres in Autumn sunshine to Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance.
After the march, servicemen and women, their children and grandchildren, held small
private ceremonies at trees dedicated to their battalions or units in the surrounding
gardens.
While some marched alone behind tattered banners -- the only surviving members of their
battalion -- others marched in groups or supported by family members who wore their medals
with pride, some carrying photos of their serving relatives.
Royal Australian Navy marchers buoyed the occasion, clapping and singing wartime songs
as bands played.
The Salvation Army provided juice and cups of tea after the march.
