Stake-outs end in arrests; Two suspects accused of stealing cans, bottles donated to firefighters.(Capital Region)

HALFMOON - Late-night surveillance and stake-outs by members of a small fire department led to the arrest of two men who are now accused of stealing donated cans and bottles used to pay for the department's equipment.

In what appears to be unrelated cases, Michael Barone, 34, of Rensselaer, and Scott Retell, 25, of Dewey Avenue, are charged with counts of petit larceny for stealing beverage containers from a donation bin at the Hillcrest Fire Department in northeastern Halfmoon, police said.
